Swiss Sustainable Coffee Platform founded and Board elected

The Swiss Sustainable Coffee Platform (SSCP) was founded yesterday, 13 November 2024, in Bern. The Coffee Platform has seen a strong increase in membership since its launch in the summer. It now has 60 members from various sectors of the Swiss coffee industry.

The multi-stakeholder initiative brings together the players in the coffee sector under one roof. The aim of the Coffee Platform is to bring together the stakeholders in the sector to jointly develop solutions to the challenges in the coffee value chain.

The Coffee Platform unites the coffee sector's stakeholders under one roof: SMEs, roasters, processors, traders, coffee shops, universities, non-profit organisations and the public sector are part of the Platform.

The following people were elected to the board: Riccardo Seitz from Illycafé AG (IG Kaffee, Private Sector), Pratyush Singh from Olam (traders, Private Sector), Daniel Imhof from Nestlé (roasters, Private Sector), Esther Haldimann from Helvetas (NPO), Philippe Schneuwly from Swisscontact (NPO), Ingrid Fromm from HAFL (research), Monica Rubiolo from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO (observer) and Anita Aerni (President).

The Swiss Platform for Sustainable Coffee (SSCP) is modelled on the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa (SWISSCO), a sister multi-stakeholder initiative aimed at creating cross-sector synergies. SSCP was officially launched by representatives of the federal government, the coffee industry, civil society and research at a public event in Bern on 6 June.
